Dispose of Unused Meds: National Take Back Day, October 28.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Volusia County are combatting accidental poisonings, overdoses, and improper use of medications by urging residents to play a vital role in the responsible disposal of unused or expired drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, at various locations.

During this initiative, individuals can safely relinquish medications without any questions asked and without the need for forms or identification. This initiative aims to ensure a safe and proper disposal of medications, promoting a safer environment and reducing potential harm from misuse or accidental ingestion of these substances.

It is important to note that only medications are eligible for acceptance at this event—sharps and inhalers will not be collected.

Local Law Enforcement agencies accepting medicines during the National Prescription Drug Take Back event are:

  • Port Orange Police Department - 4545 Clyde Morris Boulevard in Port Orange 
  • Ponce Inlet Police Department - 4301 S. Peninsula Drive in Ponce Inlet
  • New Smyrna Beach Police Department - 246 Industrial Park Ave in New Smyrna Beach
