Lake Beresford Park, situated at 2100 Fatio Road in DeLand, will experience an extended temporary closure until November 22. This extension is necessary to facilitate the construction of a new train track for the SunRail service extension to DeLand, which was supposed to be complete by November 10.

Volusia County Parks, Recreation, and Culture have carefully orchestrated this closure to minimize disruptions while enhancing the transportation network. During this period, public access to the park and trail will be limited, allowing construction crews to expedite their work efficiently. However, to accommodate the public, the County plans to reopen Lake Beresford Park and its trail to the community beginning on Thanksgiving Day, November 23.

While the park undergoes this temporary closure, enthusiasts of the St. Johns River to Sea Loop trail will still be able to enjoy its scenic route west of the train tracks. Convenient entrances are accessible at the Blue Springs Avenue Trailhead and near Blue Springs State Park on French Avenue.

Spring Hill Park, 903 S. Thompson Street in DeLand, provides a nearby and fully equipped facility boasting amenities such as a playground, pavilions, and restrooms for a welcoming environment for families and individuals alike.

As construction progresses toward the finalization of the SunRail service extension, Volusia County remains committed to maintaining a balance between infrastructure development and public access to recreational spaces.
