Tragic shooting leaves 42-year-old man dead in DeLeon Springs.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office responded to an unfortunate altercation between neighbors in DeLeon Springs Sunday at approximately 7:13 p.m. off Alameda Drive, which resulted in the loss of a life.

Volusia County Sheriff's Office Deputies swiftly arrived on the scene, after two 911 calls reporting the incident at 7:13 p.m. and initiated life-saving measures on the victim, a 42-year-old man identified as Brian J. Ford, until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived. Despite their efforts, Ford was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ford, who was trimming trees along his property line, was confronted by his neighbor, 78-year-old Edward S. Druzolowski, regarding his presence on what he claimed to be his property. According to statements provided to detectives, Druzolowski threatened Ford, and when Ford did not heed the warning to leave, he fired the fatal shot.

Druzolowski is now facing a charge of second-degree murder, spent the night in custody after being booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail, and is held without bond pending his first appearance in court.
