Fabiola Robles, a 47-year-old woman residing on Ring Street in Deltona, has been charged with misuse of 911 after making a false report of a child drowning, which led to an emergency response that resulted in a traffic crash, causing injuries to two deputies.

On June 8, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Robles dialed 911 and stated, "My next-door neighbor's kid is drowning right now."

Responding to the distress call, a patrol vehicle, with its lights and sirens on, was involved in a T-bone collision at the intersection of Providence and Fort Smith Boulevards. Both deputies in the patrol car sustained injuries and were evaluated and treated at a nearby hospital.

Upon arriving at the home where the alleged drowning occurred, other deputies and members of the Deltona Fire Department swiftly determined no child was in danger of drowning. The homeowner informed the deputies that Robles had been complaining throughout the day about the noise made by his children in the backyard. Contrary to the reported drowning, there was no pool or body of water in the vicinity, only an inflatable water slide.

According to a release, when asked if she ever saw a child drowning, Robles said she did not. The call type was then changed from drowning to a noise complaint. In addition to the three deputies and three Deltona Fire units who responded to the false drowning call, multiple deputies, Deltona Fire, Volusia County EMS, and Florida Highway Patrol units responded to the scene of the traffic crash.

Robles was arrested on Wednesday and booked at the Volusia County Branch Jail before being released on a $5,000 bond.
